ELLÖS
If you are looking for a place with beautiful scenery, closeness to the sea and at the same time want to have access to amenities such as pharmacies, banking, good food and shopping, Ellös is a good option.
Along the shores were formerly farming land. People here was making their living on farming, fishing and shipping. During the herring periods there was built two fish salteries and a fish oil factory, Ellös society began to emerge. Many of the old cottages are still there at the port.
When the herring period ended on the west coast, the people subsisted on agriculture, other fishing, and in particular wood and canning industry. In the 1900s the community expanded with spas and an oyster restaurant. Ellös also got bus and steamship lines.
Today Ellös is the largest industrial site on Orust, with over 1,000 inhabitants and about 200 summer cottages. Here is the Hallberg-Rassy Boatyard, Sweden's largest shipyard for pleasure boats and one of Orusts largest companies. 
Ellös has a very nice beach which is also child and handicap friendly.
